Appalink is a newsletter published twice a year by the Appalachian Studies Association to keep members up-to-date on news regarding the association itself as well as the annual Appalachian Studies Conference. ASA members may submit announcements for the newsletter to Mary Thomas, ASA Executive Director, at mthomas@marshall.edu. Most issues of the newsletter include a message from the current ASA President on issues ranging from volunteer opportunities to environmental issues. Each year Conference information is published in Appalink including the location and theme of the conference. A subscription to Appalink is included in Association and Conference memberships at no additional charge. Individuals and organizations may purchase advertisements in the newsletter by contacting the managing editor.
The newsletter has been around since the beginning, and has been called “Appalink” since the second issue. The first is an account of the founding meeting of the Appalachian Studies Conference. Throughout the years, Appalink has changed in layout, content, and length, but it still continues to bring news of the Association to its membership twice each year.
